Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure

Our Director - Susie Smith

Attention all female singers !

When women combine their voices in song, the resulting sound can uplift, empower, and inspire. If you love to sing and share your talent with others, here's your opportunity to truly be an inspiration for a worthy cause this summer.

On Saturday, June 12 th , 2010 you can put your voice to use by participating in one of the most uplifting events in the world, the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure , held by the NC Triangle Affiliate in Raleigh . The Komen NC Triangle Race for the Cure ® is the largest foot-race in North Carolina , attracting more than 24,000 walkers, runners and spectators in 2008. Now in its 14th year, this event has raised more than $10 million to support breast cancer research, education, screening, and treatment programs. ( www.komennctriangle .org )

Just imagine you are the runner, rounding the final corner in the home stretch of the race, head hanging, feeling fatigued and ready to drop. Just when you feel you can barely go on, you hear a faint song gradually getting louder.you look up and see a group of women singing to you -- their voices united in four-part harmony, pulling you toward them. .Suddenly your legs feel light again and you contribute your own enthusiastic cheer of thanks, remembering why you came in the first place.

The Carolina Harmony Chorus has been singing to support the runners of the Komen NC Triangle Race for the Cure® since 2003, and this year we would love for YOU to add your beautiful voice and build on the power of song to inspire these amazing runners.

We are holding three rehearsals to learn one special song to sing for the runners: "We are Family." Please join us!
